Austin Foggy Photos

It was quite foggy yesterday and streets were bathed in a soft orange glow. I grabbed my cam and went out late night to grab some shots. All the photos were taken handheld with Nikon D70. All orange blobs are regular halogen lamps. I'd give an arm and a leg if you can somehow change that to late evening sunlight. Click on thumbnails to enlarge. Comments/tips for improvements welcome.

  • Some of the pictures appear a bit shaken. If you are not using it already then a tripod could do some good for long exposure photos. Photography apart I can also post foggy photos from the roads of Bangalore..just that the foggy effect would be the dust stirred out by countless vehicles from the similarly numbered mud-filled potholes :) Send Clint Eastwood on a horse on one of the roads and then film him..would be as authentic as a dusty cowboy having ridden miles :)

  • Hi Suhail.
This is pretty late but I came across your comment left on my post/pics on mumbai a long time ago. Blogdrive does not have( i think) a feature whereby comments left by visitors are sent to email account. Anyways, through your comment, am here at your site. Just glanced through your posts and am happy to see your progressive views. Am again in mumbai next week and its a pity we cannot catch up for a coffee! Perhaps some other take. Meanwhile, do take care!
    Cheers,
    Ravi

  • Neeraj: Yes, I do have a tripod. But these photos were taken on a whim. Late night I just stepped out of the house without thinking too much. Anyways I wanted to be discrete. Going around with a 3-feet tripod (the silhoutte of which will no doubt look like a gun to some random dude in a car), on a street photography mission after 12 midnight is not such a good idea :)

Ravi: Good you stumbled across my blog again and gave me a chance for vice-versa.

  • Blurry or not, I love the orange tint of these. =) The one in the bottom right corner is especially rocking - it's one of those photos where, if you had had it posted on flickr, I would have "fave"d it by now.

  • yasmine, thanks for yr comment. At first even I liked it since obviously it's the sharpest of all. But the more I see them, I think I like (1,1) more. The tree is perfectly positioned in that one and it only looks v.good in the thumbnails. The fullsize version doesn't look as good. What am I missing?
As for flickr, I did create an account(which i've forgotten for now :(), coz sometimes I'm just lazy. But yes, I shd start flickring.
